Set of two books published by Samvit Kendra Authored by Dr.Rahul.A.Shastry.
Book 1: Dr.B.R.Ambedkar on Nationalism
This booklet presents Dr. Ambedkar’s analysis of the problems of Indian Nationalism.
His thoughts on the problems of Indian Nationalism are extremely clear sighted, well reasoned and prescient. They must be studied by any serious scholar of Indian nationalism and every Indian nationalist. Dr. Ambedkar cites from Renan: “A nation is a living soul, a spiritual principle” “The nation, like the individual, is the outcome of a long past of efforts, and sacrifices, and devotion. Ancestor-worship is therefore, all the more legitimate ; for our ancestors have made us what we are. A heroic past, great men, glory,- I mean glory of the genuine kind,- these form the social capital, upon which a national idea may be founded. To have common glories in the past, a common will in the present; to have done great things together, to will to do the like again,- such are the essential conditions for the making of a people”.
Book 2: Dr.B.R.Ambedkar on Nationalism – Notes on Indian History.
This supplementary booklet to ‘Dr.B.R.Ambedkar on Nationalism’ consists of extracts from ‘Dr. Ambedkar’s Pakistan or the Partition of India’. Babasahebji was well aware of the foundational importance of his book for Indian Nationalism. Writing about it, he said: “… the reader will find that the book contains an epitome of India’s political and social history during the last twenty years, which it is necessary for every Indian to know.” “It is an analytical presentation of Indian history and Indian politics in their communal aspects. …”
